SHAME! And Starting Over

So, I am ashamed to say that all that weight I lost last year - I gained it all back. Ugh! I am so disappointed in myself. And kinda disgusted. I worked so hard and then I just blew it all.

The only way to make it better I guess is to lose it again - and keep it off this time. So I am involved in another Biggest Loser competition - this one is with my roomies and a couple of other friends. I have been working hard and trying to make sure that I get back to where I was before, and even lower!!!

So I am starting again. I am going to lose a bunch of weight and keep it off. I am going to be healthier. I CAN do it.

Also, just so you know, the Biggest Loser started on Monday November 7th, and as of the week 1 weigh in I had lost 1.9%! I was the biggest loser of the week (by .1% lol). I will keep updating. And who knows, I might even post before/during/after pics this time.

5k Success!

So on April 23rd I ran my very first ever 5k, and it was awesome! It was supposed to start at 845 in the morning, but they were running a bit behind so instead we started around 855. I had two goals for this race: 1) run the entire thing, except at water stations; 2) don't be last. Goals accomplished! There was a really steep hill during this one part near the end, but I kept on running. It was funny because my roommate who went with me 'slowed' to a walk for a bit during the hill and she was still doing the same pace as I was - that's how slow I run. The whole thing took 45 mins, which means I ran a 15 min mile which is way slow, but I am okay with that. That means that my goal for the next race can be to run it faster than I had previously. Anyway, that's my plan. I think I might have caught the bug and I want to run a bunch more 5k's this summer. Wish me luck!

Gettin' Ready for a 5K

So I was planning to run a 5K on March 13th, but we waited too long to sign up for the race, so instead I have to wait until a run that is taking place on April 23rd called the 'Earth Day Run'. So today I went running for the first time in a while ... but I did fine. I ran 'week 7' today which is run 12 mins, walk 3 mins repeat 3 times.  It actually went really well. The only thing that would have made it better is if it hadn't been quite so chilly (although it was warmer than it would have been if I lived back home or something). I will keep you updated on how it goes until the run. I am totally going to get back in the eating better thing as well and soon I will weight even less than I do now! I can't wait to be tinier.

Back in the Saddle

So, I have been keeping up on the running again. I think I am extra motivated because of a certain upcoming trip to somewhere warm where I might be getting my picture taken in my swimming suit. And if no pics are taken, other people still still see me. So I am back up to week 6 - which is 5 mins warmup walk, 12 mins running, 3 mins walk, 12 mins running and then 5 mins cool down walk. I did pretty good today. I plan to keep it up.

I haven't done so good on the keeping track of my eating lately, but I think I am doing okay. I could go back and figure it all out, but I am way too lazy. I will just see how it goes and if I don't lose anything (inches or pounds) then I will change up my strategy.

This is Why I Suck ...

So, 10 days after my last post I got in a car wreck. It wasn't terrible, I wasn't really hurt that bad (except my stupid sprained finger) but my car was totaled out and I had a bit of a shoulder/neck/back ache for about a week. Anyway, then Thanksgiving and Christmas happened and I have kinda stopped with the doing good in the whole eating better and exercising thing. I realized though that I am going to Costa Rica in less than a month, so I really need to get back on the ball here. So today, I finally bit the bullet and went running again. After not having gone for 2 months. And you know what? It wasn't that bad. In fact, I was smiling when I got home because I had missed it. Yeah, I know, what has happened to me? I am wondering too. I am not complaining, just curious.

Anyway, I am going to start being better again because I need to do good for Costa Rica (and for my health I guess). Also, when I went home for the holidays my brother's gf Suzie and I talked a lot about how we need to do better in the health department - we both have things we need to look good for coming up soon - so we promised each other that the next time we saw each other, there would be less to see. I am not sure when that will be exactly, but I need to work on it now so that I can keep my promise. The last thing I need is for summer to come and for me to schedule a trip home and then to realize that I haven't done anything and I am fatter than I was when I made that promise! That WILL NOT HAPPEN! So here so we go, I am keeping track again. Whew! Wish me luck!
